Hello and Welcome to Wellbeing in Football

Wellbeing in Football is a pilot study looking to improve the mental health and wellbeing of footballers in Scotland. The programme is supervised by Dr Paul McCarthy.

I am looking for volunteers to participate in this research to provide data and feedback on the programme.

FAQs

  • How do I sign up?

If you are interested in taking part, please register using the 'GET STARTED' section. Once you have registered simply click the "ENROL FOR FREE" button to get access to the course material. The last day you can enrol on the course is February 27th 2022.

  • How long does the course last?

Once you enrol on the programme, the course will then last for 4 weeks.

  • How many sessions do I have to watch each week?

There will be two videos released to watch per week, with each video lasting roughly 20-25 minutes.

  • What happens if I miss a week?

To get the most out of the sessions, we ask that you try your best to watch the two newly uploaded videos per week. However, in the case that you miss a week, you can just catch up with these the following week as long as you watch the sessions in the correct order

  • Can I watch the videos but not fill in the questionnaires?

You need to fill in the questionnaires before watching the first session of each week (sessions 1, 5 & 8) as well as the feedback questionnaires after you have watched each session (sessions 1-8). It is vitally important that we gather data on this so we can make any changes to the programme. The questionnaires are designed to be completed very quickly.

  • Something went wrong with the website, who do I contact?

If there are any technical issues please email [email protected] and we will try our best to help with the issue.

  • Will my data really be anonymous?

The data will be completely anonymous and the researcher will not be able to identify anyone from their questionnaire scores. You will create a unique identifier that we'll use to track the data from your questionnaire answers but this won't be personally identifiable to you. The only exception to this would be if a participant wants to withdraw from the research. In this case, the participant would tell the researcher what their unique identifier was to allow the researcher to erase the participant’s data. You are allowed to retract your data up until the research data is analysed which will be in April.

  • What is the 1-month follow up questionnaire?

This is the same questionnaire that you fill out in sessions 1, 5 and 8. It is really important to the research that we gather this data, so we would greatly appreciate if you complete this 1 month after you have completed the course. You will receive an email reminder and a link to the questionnaire.

  • I am really struggling right now with my mental health, can you help?

Unfortunately, we cannot answer any personal questions regarding mental health due to ethical reasons. You will find a list of contacts below if you need to speak to someone urgently or if you are concerned about someone close to you.
